Cockroaches are an oval shaped insect that feed with chewing mouthparts and can be 3/4 of an inch all the way up to 3 inches in size. Most are black, brown to reddish brown and typically don't bother us. Of the 4,600 species, 30 or so species will cross paths with humans and of the 30, only 5 are well known to most humans as pests.
